ORBIS depends on caring individuals, companies and foundations for annual funding.  Donated products and services are also of critical importance. Image of BBB LogoThe contributions of our corporate and foundation sponsors range from multi-year grants to donated medical products and services, as well as aviation support. In addition, hundreds of accomplished eye care professionals volunteer their time and expertise to make ORBIS training programs possible. Individual donors from across the world share this kind, philanthropic spirit, donating millions to our sight-saving work.

In 2011, ORBIS’s global view of our financial performance, including all five affiliates, shows that over $98.9M was generated in revenue and support. Overall, we finished the year with a net excess of $4.5M and total net assets of $50.5M. Most importantly, 88 percent ($83.2M) of our total expenditures were invested in executing our projects in blindness prevention training, screening, treatments and surgeries. Nine percent ($8.5M) was spent on fundraising and three percent ($2.8M) was spent on management and general expenses.
