Great Ethiopian Run 2013
Join ORBIS for the race your life in the 2013 Great Ethiopian Run! ORBIS is challenging adventurous South African runners to tackle Africa biggest road race: 10kms long, 36, 000 runners at high altitude (2,300 metres)! Join us for a weekend you will never forget from 21- 25 November 2013.
The Great Ethiopian Run
Started in 2001, the Great Ethiopian Run has evolved into Africa’s biggest road race. The 10km route is through Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital city. Haile Gebreselassie, Ethiopian Olympic Gold Medalist is the founder of the race, which he runs each year along with about 36,000 participants. The race is known for its festive atmosphere and party vide.
In 2013 the race will be run on Sunday, 24 November. As usual all the runners wear the same brightly coloured t-shirt creating unity and a wave of colour throughout the city.
ORBIS will be fielding a team of 60+ runners in the Great Ethiopian Run from around the world to raises funds for our work. We have been bringing international runners to the event for the past five years and offer a safe, runner-friendly trip that is not only fascinating but rewarding as the runners help prevent blindness simply by doing what they love best – running.
